Preparing for Your Telehealth Appointment with Access to Therapy
Overview
Telehealth has revolutionised the way we access healthcare, making it more convenient and accessible. At Access to Therapy, we offer telehealth services for speech pathology, teaching, and occupational therapy, ensuring that you receive the support you need from the comfort of your home. Here’s how to prepare for your telehealth appointment to make the most of your session.
Ensure a Secure Internet Connection
A stable and secure internet connection is crucial for a successful telehealth appointment. Make sure your Wi-Fi is reliable and that you have a backup plan in case of connectivity issues. If the internet drops out, our team will also have your number on file and will be able to call you on the phone.
Choose the Right Device
While a laptop or tablet is ideal for telehealth appointments due to their larger screens and better camera quality, a smartphone can also be used if necessary. Ensure your device is fully charged or plugged in.
Prepare Your Space
Select a quiet, well-lit area for your appointment. This will help minimise distractions and ensure that both you and your therapist can see and hear each other clearly. Having a few books, your child’s favourite toy, and a pen and paper nearby can be helpful, especially for younger children who might need to stay engaged during the session.
Gather Necessary Materials
Depending on the type of therapy, you might need specific materials. For speech pathology, occupational therapy, and teaching sessions, having a few books and a favourite toy can be beneficial. For occupational therapy, ensure you have any recommended tools or materials ready. Pen and paper can be useful for taking notes or completing activities during the session.
Be Ready to Engage
Prepare any questions or concerns you have in advance. This will help you make the most of your time with the therapist. We love to help you specifically, so please think of what you and your child’s goals are for therapy.
Special Considerations for NDIS Participants
If you are an NDIS participant, ensure that all necessary documentation is ready and accessible. Access to Therapy allocates proceeds from every NDIS-referred child towards a program aimed at children aged 3-4 years who are not yet under NDIS. This program is launching in 2025, so stay tuned.
By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth and productive telehealth appointment with Access to Therapy. Our goal is to provide high-quality speech pathology, occupational therapy, and teaching services that are convenient and effective, helping you and your family achieve the best possible outcomes.
